LIVING LIGHTLY NEWS

LIVING LIGHTLY AND LOCALLY SHOWCASE

David Chernushenko will host  a new event on Nov. 16 with the support of Sustainable Ottawa and the Environment Committee of Old Ottawa South. The Living Lightly and Locally Showcase at the Mayfair Theatre will introduce and promote the ideas of living lightly.

The green showcase will feature a screening of the film Be The Change, as well as presentations and displays by exhibitors offering green products, services and assistance to help the community live more lightly and locally.

Exhibitors will include local businesspeople ranging from an architect to a yoga instructor, as well as organic food suppliers and other retailers, and community and environmental groups.

This will hopefully become a model for future events in other communities in this city.

Sunday, Nov 16

2:30 – 4:30 pm
Mayfair Theatre
1074 Bank St. (at Sunnyside)

NEW FILM PROJECT

The Living Lightly team is currently working on a new film with the working title Powerful!: Re-energizing People, Communities and Economies. In it, David Chernushenko explores where our energy comes from, who controls and profits from it, and what it will take to ensure a clean, safe and reliable energy future. He visits places in Europe where renewable energy provides power, creates local jobs and gets people active in building stronger communities, then tries to find out what’s stopping us from doing the same in North America.

We’ll keep you updated on the film’s progress in future newsletters and on the Living Lightly Web site.
